R&M designed a two-lane bridge and separated pedestrian crossing to replace a bridge across Contact Creek, reusing the existing binwall foundation. The new bridge was comprised of steel girders, glulam deck and an Ipe (Ironwood) wearing surface. The bridge was designed to be mobilized to the site with Lockheed C130 Hercules aircraft as air transport is the only access to Anaktuvuk Pass. In support of the design, R&M performed a hydrologic/hydraulic assessment of Contact Creek, provided a right of way analysis and temporary utilities bypass for the construction period.
