This project addressed safety, mobility and capacity concerns at the existing stop controlled intersection of KGB and Fern Street. The KGB/Fern project consists of roadway improvements to KGB (a state route) and Fern Street (local street), including development of multiple lanes, right and left turn pockets, new intersection signalization, utility adjustments, and reconstruction of the existing separated pathway. Due to the close spacing of the KGB/Fern Street and KGB/Palmer-Wasilla Highway intersections, R&M added approximately one-mile of new southbound lane along KGB to improve safety and operation.
