R&M is performing design studies for capture and use of waste heat from a new municipal power plant at the Ship Creek site. The waste heat will be used to temper potable water to limit freeze potential in the Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility (AWWU) water distribution / storage system. This project will also lower hot water heating costs for AWWU customers. The current plan is to house the heat exchangers and associated piping in a building addition to the existing Energy Recovery Station at the Ship Creek site.
