Job Description

R&M Consultants, Inc. is a well-established, employee-owned multi-discipline Alaskan firm. Since 1969, R&M has participated in some of Alaska’s most significant and technically challenging civil infrastructure projects. R&M’s Surveying and Mapping Department is a leading provider of Surveying, GIS and Geomatics services to public and private clients throughout Alaska.

R&M is currently seeking a team-oriented GIS Specialist to meet the evolving needs of our clients. The successful applicant would become a member of R&M’s outstanding Surveying and Mapping Department.

As a member of the R&M team, the GIS Specialist will provide exemplary personalized service to R&M’s many valued clients, each day functioning within an interdisciplinary environment that includes dedicated environmental, engineering, geological, and surveying and mapping professionals. The successful applicant must be able to interpret, analyze and create data to support GIS projects; and research, acquire, collate and reconcile spatial and non-spatial data from a variety of sources into effective maps, charts and reports.

The successful applicant will also be expected to represent R&M and actively participate in professional organizations and community activities.

The GIS Specialist will report to the Senior Vice President of Surveying and Mapping or other Project Manager on a day-to-day basis, based on team organization for specific projects.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires three to five years of experience with ESRI Arc GIS and AutoCAD software. Additional software experience using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and Access is a plus. A B.A. or B.S. degree in geology, geomatics, civil engineering or a related field is preferred. All candidates should have good interpersonal skills for working in a dynamic team environment, and should possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
