R&M Consultants, Inc. is a well-established, employee-owned multi-discipline Alaskan firm specializing in cold regions civil engineering. Over the past 39 years, R&M has participated in some of Alaska’s most significant and technically challenging civil infrastructure projects, such as the Trans Alaska Pipeline System, Seward Highway Canyon Creek Bridge, and the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport Terminal “C” Redevelopment. R&M is also active in Civil/Industrial projects and have participated in FERC licensed hydroelectric project development including Bradley Lake, Terror Lake, Swan Lake, and Humpback Creek projects and in minerals industry projects including Delong Mountain Transportation System, Red Dog Port, and Skagway Ore Terminal Reactivation.
R&M is currently seeking a team-oriented senior project civil engineer to support expansion of our Industrial Projects Group.
As a member of the R&M team, the Senior Project Engineer should be able to perform independent analysis and design for industrial engineering projects including materials handling and power generation facilities. Project tasks may include site investigations, evaluations, planning, studies, feasibility reports, preliminary engineering, design development, specifications writing, construction documents preparation, bidding phase services and construction services including in-field construction engineering and construction management. Duties include supervising project engineers, staff engineers, technicians and interns, and coordinating deliverables with R&M’s outstanding Surveying and Mapping, Earth Sciences and Construction Services Departments to meet client schedules. This position involves participation in project meetings, client meetings and public meetings and requires short duration travel throughout Alaska on projects for which the individual is responsible.
The successful applicant will also be expected to represent R&M and actively participate in professional organizations and community activities.
The Senior Project Engineer will work under the supervision of the Group Manager: Industrial Projects in close coordination with other team members.
Minimum Qualifications
The position requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering and seven or more years of experience in general civil design and field engineering work, with emphasis in site development, vertical construction and hydraulic engineering. Proficiency with AutoCAD/Land Desktop desired. All candidates should have good interpersonal skills for working in a team environment and interacting with clients and sub-consultants and have strong written and verbal communication skills. A working knowledge of FERC guidelines and regulations, SEED and environmental regulations is a plus. Alaska P.E. required or able to obtain by reciprocity.
