R&M provided construction materials testing services for the Aniak Airport Runway Shift project. The project shifted the entire, 6,000′ long runway 260′ to comply with FAA object-free area requirements. Materials testing was a large part of this three-year construction project. Our services comprised a significant number of compaction densities and gradations for the runway core (which consisted of more than one million tons of borrow placement), concrete testing on the FAA building and river ice protection bollards, and hot mix asphalt testing of the runway pavement.
