Surface Transportation

R&M is well known for our work on Alaska’s surface transportation network. We provide multi-discipline services in highway and street design for the full range of functional classifications in rural and urban locations. We use the latest software and client standards to design and develop 3D corridor models to evaluate transportation solutions when analyzing impacts to environment, right-of-way, utilities and estimating construction costs. R&M has designed some of Alaska’s larger highway and urban roadway design and improvement projects, including multiple projects on the Seward, Parks, Sterling and Dalton Highways, and for lower volume roadways from Ketchikan to Kotzebue.

R&M offers the following services in support of surface transportation projects:

  • Transportation Planning
  • Corridor Studies
  • Highway Safety Improvement Program designs
  • Design of rehabilitation, reconstruction and new construction projects
  • Roundabout design
  • Multi-use pedestrian pathway design
