Travis Ross, PE recently joined R&M as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in the firm’s Earth Sciences Department. Travis will manage and perform geotechnical engineering work in collaboration with R&M’s various service groups.

Travis has more than 20 years of experience in geotechnical engineering. He is well-versed in the technical aspects of designing shallow and deep foundations, seismic geo-hazards, slope stability, retaining walls and permafrost engineering, as well as construction monitoring and inspection for bridge foundations, buildings, docks and pipeline upgrades. Travis’s focus over his career has been on transportation and infrastructure, foundation engineering, geo-hazards, and cold-region engineering projects. This includes highways and bridges, foundations for wind turbine generators, railroads, foundations for industrial and commercial structures, pipeline integrity and utilities, bulk fuel tanks and wind towers. He is experienced in working with a variety of public agencies, including the Alaska Railroad Corporation (ARRC), Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) and municipal governments.
Since joining R&M, Travis has been involved with several Alaska Railroad projects, including the Bird Creek and Cottonwood Creek Bridge Replacements. He is managing the geotechnical field program and geotechnical engineering tasks for these projects.

Travis has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Northern Arizona University. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a former advisory member of the Renewable Energy Committee and volunteer for the Winds for Schools Program. Travis is also a member of Single Track Advocates Anchorage and Nordic Ski Association of Anchorage. He is passionate about skiing in its many forms (backcountry, alpine, nordic) and enjoys mountain biking and camping with his kids in summer.
