New Manager to Lead R&M’s Construction Administration Group

Greg Shearer, PE recently joined R&M as the firm’s Group Manager of Construction Administration. In this role, Greg will manage and oversee administration of federal and state-funded construction contracts, including day-to-day construction operations. This includes airport, highway and waterfront improvements, as well as structural vertical and industrial construction projects.

“I have enjoyed a front row seat to Greg’s engineering career and his many celebrated successes. Over the years I’ve watched him as he thoughtfully and skillfully conducted his business, from his early days as an intern through progression to Project Engineer at R&M, to most recently working with him on the client side as he focused on promoting DOT&PF’s core agendas. Now we come full circle as Greg returns to R&M. He brings a wealth of technical and interpersonal skills along with a demonstrated and sustained history of working with clients, staff, contractors and other stakeholders to support their success. I look forward to working alongside Greg as he further demonstrates his leadership.”

Greg brings 15 years of experience in the engineering design and construction industry to R&M. A previous R&M employee, he spent the past five years with the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Central Region as a Senior Project Manager. In that role, Greg supervised a variety of construction projects, including roads, airports, bridges and emergency repairs caused by natural disasters. Projects ranged from $1 million to $50 million dollars and included the Toksook Bay Airport Rehabilitation, Crooked Creek Airport Relocation, Old Sterling Highway: Anchor River Bridge Replacement, Kalifornsky Beach Road MP 9 Culvert Replacement and Beaver Loop Road Rehabilitation. As a Project Engineer, he has additional experience administering marine construction projects. Through this varied experience, Greg has a proven ability to handle complex projects and work together with multiple vested interest groups to deliver quality projects to Alaska.

Greg has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno. He is an Alaska Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead; Western Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction Qualified in aggregate, asphalt, concrete, embankment and base, density; and CPR/First Aid certified. On the weekends, Greg likes to work on house projects and spend time with family and friends. He also enjoys camping, cooking, gardening and traveling.
