R&M has named Tim Grier, PE Vice President of Engineering, with Lance Debernardi, PE taking over as Group Manager of Surface Transportation.

Tim has been with R&M for 13 years, formerly serving as Group Manager of Surface Transportation. He has 30 years of civil engineering experience and is well versed in the planning, design and construction of road, water, sewer and solid waste facilities, as well as general civil site design. As Vice President of Engineering, Tim will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of R&M’s Engineering Department that includes: Water Resources, Structural Engineering, Surface Transportation, Airport Engineering, Site Development and Waterfront Engineering. He brings a wealth of industry experience, a strong technical background and a keen business sense to this role. Tim also serves on the firm’s Board of Directors
Tim holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering and is a professional civil engineer registered in Alaska. Outside of work, he volunteers for a girl’s ice hockey program and community projects, such as back country trails improvements. Tim is an avid pilot and frequently flies to remote bush locations. He also enjoys spending time with family and friends at his cabin on the west side of Cook Inlet.
Tim’s promotion to Vice President leaves a vacancy in the Group Manager of Surface Transportation position. Lance is being promoted into this role.

Lance has been a Senior Project Engineer in R&M’s Surface Transportation Group for the past 12 years. He has 29 years of experience as a project manager and senior highway design engineer, which includes roadway geometrics, drainage, roadside safety, construction traffic control and intersection signalization. Lance has managed major roadway projects, including the Fairview Loop Road Rehabilitation, Eklutna River Bridge Replacement, Sterling Highway MP 45-60 and Dalton Highway MP 11-18 Reconstruction. He brings a solid technical background along with strong leadership skills to his new role where he will be responsible for day-to-day management of the Surface Transportation Group.
Lance holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah and is a professional civil engineer registered in Alaska. In his free time, Lance enjoys spending time with his children, engaging in outdoor activities and pursuing adventures across the state.
