R&M designed a 12,500 SF facility that includes one ARFF bay, four SRE bays and an admin bay. A flat roof allowed us to position the building close to the GA Apron while remaining under the FAA Part 77 transitional surface. The project included demolition of an existing hangar/SREB, significant site grading, relocation of fuel tanks and replacement of EEB equipment. The project also included design of a 7,050 SF chemical storage and mixing equipment building. Mechanical, electrical, structural and architectural disciplines all worked closely together to create an efficient design that could store large quantities of prilled Urea and allow a single staff member to quickly batch de-icing liquids.
R&M reconfigured an existing airport access point to the GA apron around the new ARFF/SREB to allow the public to access the building while keeping the GA Apron accessible only to authorized users.
