R&M provided environmental support and construction oversight during construction of a new maintenance hangar at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Our services included a Phase I ESA, an ADEC-approved soil management plan, and field observation and testing during earthwork phases of construction. R&M performed a rapid investigation with a direct push drilling rig to broadly characterize soils from the proposed excavation area and break the site into risk categories, allowing for broad segregation of soil during excavation of an approximately 5′ thick soil prism. R&M’s approach minimized the amount of soil stockpiled on the congested construction site.

R&M’s experience with similar projects and contamination issues facilitated construction while minimizing impacts to project schedule to ensure that the infrastructure could be built on time to serve Alaskans and visitors to the state.
