Eagle River 690 PZ Intertie

Client
Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility
Location
Eagle River, Alaska
Construction Value
$3.7 million

R&M performed a geotechnical investigation, topographic survey, and utility, structural and site design for transmission main connections, booster station construction, site grading, process piping and electrical systems, including SCADA control for the Baronoff Booster Station, which connects to 484 PZ and pumps water directly to the Meadow Creek Reservoirs, while providing redundancy for the Dawn Street Booster to maintain fire flows.

R&M coordinated stakeholder interaction, presented at Community Council meetings, and worked with property owners to determine the cost and efficacy of installing PRVs on property. R&M’s engineering team provided design sketches to include in public information. We also developed a Business Case Evaluation and cost-benefit analysis of installing the in-home/in-business PRVs.

Construction of the Baronoff Booster Station provided redundancy in the water supply for most AWWU customers in Eagle River, in case of booster pump failure in other areas or emergency conditions affecting the area’s water system.

The booster station building included asphalt pavement for access to all sides of the building, as well as the garage door and public watering point on the backside of the building.
Pump Room containing pipe headers with three 100 HP high-volume pumps with expansion tank and water meter, including an overhead crane to assist in maintenance of the heavy pump equipment.
