R&M performed Surveying for Design and ROW and the associated mapping in support of rehabilitating MP 25.5 to 36 of the Seward Highway. The ROW survey included the recovery of 381 monuments. The topographic survey covered a 12-mile-long corridor with an area of approximately 550 acres, and included several drainage surveys. We also completed control surveys that included levels through the entire corridor. The field work was completed using four field crews and a field office.
The Seward Highway is the only road that connects the communities of Moose Pass and Seward to the rest of the state. This rehabilitation project will improve the driving surface and extend the service life of the roadway, which had seen few improvements since its 1950 construction.
