This major highway realignment project has been planned for decades. R&M mapped much of the existing ROW on each end of the realignment and has prepared right of entry exhibits to support engineering design activities within the proposed realigned corridor. Project ROW plans have been developed to aid in acquiring some of the necessary property interests for construction. Property owners along the corridor include the U.S. Forest Service, Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI), Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Kenai Peninsula Borough and private individuals, which requires a variety of procedures and deliverables to meet agency requirements for acquisition.

This project will increase capacity and safety by widening shoulders, bringing the roadway curves into compliance with design speeds, and adding passing lanes, pathways and wildlife crossings.
