R&M provided geotechnical engineering support for the Port of Alaska Petroleum Cement Terminal project. The effort included on and offshore borings, testing of undisturbed soil samples and a geophysical survey.
R&M has held a term agreement since 2008 to provide sampling, testing and inspection of soils, aggregate, asphalt and concrete on DOT&PF projects throughout Alaska.
R&M provided surveying, geotechnical, environmental, H&H and design services to replace the existing 1,000’ Water Street Viaduct, which was last rehabilitated in the late 1970s.
By converting the two-way stop-controlled intersection into a multi-lane roundabout, including contraflow bypass provisions for OS/OW trucks, the R&M team mitigated above average crash rates and improved non-motorized access by enhancing connectivity.
R&M provided multi-discipline professional services in support of design of 2.5 miles of new and reconstructed roadway, including a new 440’ long three-span bridge over Wood River near its outlet into Lake Aleknagik.
The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is developing an interchange at the Seward Highway outside Girdwood. R&M is the prime consultant for this reconfiguration project.
